In summer, there is horseback riding, hiking, biking or you can just toss your fishing line in the river right off the lawn. And you are bound to catch something too. The Yakima River is considered one of the best fishers in the entire State. So please do come and spend a stay at Elk Trail Chalet. Peshastin - - Chief Joseph Lodge It is a little known fact. That Chief Joseph, famous for saying "I will fight war no more forever," passed over central Washington State's Blewett Pass stopping long enough to water his horses and buy provisions. Now the Chief Joseph Lodge has been named after this famous Nez Pierce Native American, one of the few who called for peace when the United States forcefully attempted to relocate his people from their ancestral homelands What a building it is. Have you ever been in a doctor or dentist waiting room and picked up one of those fancy travel magazines? The ones with sapphire blue water on the front, and articles describing private island getaways, downtown penthouses, or secluded mountain retreats. The Chief Joseph is of that caliber. A magnificent and very remote Lodge with everything you would expect to find inside one of those journals; an extra large 5 bedroom mountain lodge, miles from the nearest neighbor but with all the amenities you would expect. Located high above Blewett Pass, this home is only accessible by Snowcat in the winter (provided by us) or your own snowmobiles; though there is a good road in the summer. Built in 2003, the home is several miles away and several hundred feet above Blewett Pass and surrounded by tens of thousands of acres of Nation Forest land. There is plenty to do and fun to be had. Snow shoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, mountain biking, and hiking are all accessible from your front door. Or if you’d rather stay just take it easy, relax on the large deck with a glass of wine and light up the barbecue. Or watch a DVD or play a video game on the flat screen TV. Or even head down to the game room for some pool, darts, pinball and more. This two story home features mammoth log construction, 5 bedrooms which sleep 14, 3 bathrooms and 2 river rock fire places to keep you warm on the chilly mountain peak. The top floor is made up of the master bedroom with king sized bed and private double sink bathroom, the main living room with large luxurious leather seating and a wall of windows to let you take in the view. The full sized kitchen has modern appliances, horse saddle bar stools and a 6-8 person dinner table. There is also a powder room by the entrance. Above the top floor is a loft used as a TV room with a large flat screen TV. Downstairs is a game room, two more bedrooms with queen sized beds, and two bunk rooms with double sized bunks and a full sized bathrooms with double sinks. Breathtaking is what you will call the scenery. In the summer it can be a wonderful base from which to enjoy all the sights and adventures of the great out doors. The Bavarian Village of Leavenworth is within driving distance. The Roslyn & Cle Elum area is to the South. In the winter the lodge can warm you up from your snowy fun and let you and you’re whole family share games and food. The current Blewett pass was built in 1922 to serve as a connection across the cascades between western and eastern Washington. The old Blewett pass road dates back to the minor gold rush in 1860 and possible before that as a Native American trail. Today, the new pass sits 4,100 feet in elevation and sees less traffic than the other interstate highway passes, though it is situated roughly 30 miles from both Leavenworth and Cle Elum. So how did Chief Joseph come to traverse the pass? Eventually the US Army came to forcible remove the Nez Perce from their lands. While other Chiefs advocated for war, Joseph convinced them to flee to Canada. During their escape, it is documented that Chief Joseph came to the small town which had sprung up alongside Blewett pass to water his horse and buy supplies. The 800 Nez Perce with Joseph traveled 1700 miles, in an effort to elude 2,000 US Calvary troops. They were eventually caught just 30 miles south of the Canadian border. As you enjoy the Chief Joseph Lodge, please reflect on the man who steadfastly refused to allow his people to attack the settlers; who fled to protect his people and how graciously made his famous vow “I will fight no more forever.”

Pierce - - Case Inlet Cabin The owners fell in love with this location the moment they saw it. Right on Puget Sound, south facing for bright year round sun. Drive to the south tip of Key Peninsula, then down a little gravel driveway to this traditional northwest home. Basic in many ways, but with a large master bedroom, two additional bedrooms and two baths. They loved that the home was nicely isolated from its neighbors and home to grand old fir trees. Inside the main living area has an expanse of windows that travels the full width of the home. There is comfy furniture a modern kitchen and dining room that sits right out into the window area. Bring the whole family, there is parking for two cars and a fenced play area for kids. But - but what sold them as they first walked out onto the house wide deck was, just below them on level down, was a very large bright blue private swimming POOL. All for their own private use. In summer the pool and surrounding deck area is where you can lounge away the day overlooking Puget Sound and all the boats. Plus you can see seals, fisherman and even the occasional whale and a never ending parade of wildlife. This is a year round destination. Summers are warm and joyful. Spring and autumn can be bright and equally enjoyable. Even winter has its drama and viewing opportunities because Puget Sound is alive year round.

Pierce - - The Alteros If you want to be on the beach and in a large traditional Northwest home this is your place. It is clean and well lit with lots of windows. There are decks on every floor and on both sides of the building so you get morning and afternoon sun. But the best part is by far the beach. Just walk the short flat path and you find yourself on a gravelly beach with wonderful West facing views. There is an old covered beach sitting area where you can sit down with a good book and watch the tides come in and out. The bay is shallow and, unlike many salt water locations, the water gets warm enough to swim in. In fact, the owners do it for hours. Or bring your boat. You can actually beach it right up by the sitting area at high tide. Inside, the home is immaculately decorated with all the modern convinces. There are three bedrooms and two baths and the home sleeps up to 12. The kitchen is modern with all features and fully stocked with pots, pans, dinner ware and anything else you need. There is a ton to do in Gig Harbor, like exploring the many Art Galleries, Boutiques and fine restaurants, or taking a harbor tour. Nearby Allyn boasts a PGA golf course at Lakeland Village, and Kayak and boat rentals are available in Allyn or Belfair, both about seven miles from the home. Port Orchard, just 15 minutes away, is a Mecca for those interested in antiques and treasure hunting. The downtown waterfront offers shopping, museums, entertainment, galleries and dining, with ferry access from Bremerton and Seattle This location is like being in the Garden of Eden with mature fir, cedar trees, a terraced garden full of native plants and even a vibrant waterfall, and all of it just minutes from all the fun you could imagine.
